Freezer Chest

Freezers chest

To save on your grocery bill, a freezers chest is what you need to store all your frozen foods. You can get them in any size and at most places where they sell major appliances.

The Versatile Uses of a Freezers Chest

When I was a child, my father and his brother would take my grandfather fishing twice a year to some secret spot that was a state away. They’d be gone for about 3-4 days and come back with loads of fish. It was my duty to be there when they came back to unload the pickup truck of coolers and fishing gear. The coolers would be carried straight to the basement where my grandmother had the freezers chest cleared and ready to be stocked with the fish that they caught. It was fun for the men, they would boast and carry on with stories and tall tales of how “the big one got away” while they cleaned and gutted the fish, wrap them in aluminum foil and have them stacked neatly for the freezers chest.

But my grandmother also used the freezers chest. She and my aunts would go pick fresh fruits and vegetables from various farms that were around. They picked everything from apples to zucchinis and placed them in freezer bags. They talked about simple things like recipes and knitting patterns and once again I would go to the basement and place the produce in the freezers chest.

A freezers chest is great for storing foods that need to be frozen right away for future use. And now that I’m older and have a family of my own, it’s time I go and buy one for my family and use it for my fish, meat and produce. I decided to go to Best Buy and see what they had available. I wondered if they still made the GE brand my grandparents owned and used, because as far I know, it’s still running strong.

There are Many Different Styles and Sizes

When I shopped at the Best Buy website, I noticed the different brands they had to offer. They had brands like Frigidaire and Whirlpool, but I wanted that GE unit my grandparents used. They had GE units, but I didn’t know what model my grandparents had; or even if they still made it. I kept the idea of getting a GE appliance and all I needed to do was decide what size I needed. The largest freezer chest they had was 24.9 Cu. Ft. and the smallest one was on 7 Cu. Ft. I figured I would settle with somewhere in the middle. They had a white chest freezer that had 14.8 Cu. Ft. for storage, and it was also Energy Star qualified. I didn’t fish as much as my father and grandfather, and I didn’t go strawberry picking every other weekend like my grandmother and my aunts. So I think I chose the perfect size freezer chest for what I need.
